Responder Elevator Training
In response to requests by first responders and building maintenance personnel, Abco (through its UpLift Learning division) has created a two-level training program called Responder Elevator Training (RET) to prepare responders for elevator entrapment situations.
The varied and complex systems of an elevator pose a number of particular dangers, and there are a number of external factors which impact the safety of rescuers, bystanders and entrapped passengers if not accommodated correctly.
RET Level 1 is a 37-unit online course which can be taken anywhere, at any time. It is followed by a one-day in-person skills evaluation session called RET Level 2. At the end of the training, trainees receive a Certificate of Completion.
Abco is a Category 2 vocational training school, as accredited by the Government of Saskatchewan, and instructor Lonnie Mackenzie combines 30 years of elevator knowledge with first responder experience and safety officer accreditation.
